Sam

Sam was a unique dog. We brought him home in 2012, when we first met him as a big bundle of fluff that followed his mum and dad when we first met him.

Over his 13 and a half years, his unique personality shone through. He was your bigger than average golden retriever.

He was obsessed with food, and had a sneaky way of always getting his own way to get a snack. He would play hide and seek, when he’d seek but not hide.

His favourite film was Lady and the Tramp, as he’d sit there and watch the dogs run across the screen, but then bark at them as if they were in the room. While Sam may have not liked many people, he showed endless love towards his family, always wanting cuddles and tickles.

Sam could also be considered a celebrity, as videos of him on YouTube went ‘viral’, and he was featured in news stories, which really expressed Sam’s stardom.

While his name was Sam, he would respond to Baby Sam more. Even when he got older, he was still a baby to us.

Right until the end, Sam was a loving dog who will always have a big place in our hearts. Life without him is hard, but his memories will always stay with us and his presence will always be in his favourite place, which was his home.

At the end, Sam was in his own home surrounded by people who loved him and although it was a hard decision to make, it was the right decision for him. He is now back home where he belongs, and he always will remain.

We’d like to thank Mark for his kind send off for Sam, which helped us all in saying goodbye to him. Mark’s care and compassion shone through, and we are very thankful.
